Becoming a thoughtful strong Leader

Mastering the Dynamics of the Human Operating System to create Value through People

Diversity

Co-Create

Grow

Sometimes
things just don’t turn out
the way
they’re supposed to
especially when
people
are involved
The brutal reality we are waking up to is that our political, economical, social, technological and ecological challenges seem to amass with greater speed than our functional and cognitive capacity to meet these demands.

While most organisations today have easy access to technological innovations the development of human capital–ironically the core carrier of these innovations–seems to be a much more challenging aspiration.

We at the Leader Academy permanently honour a twofold commitment: a commitment to the “best we know today” (Excellence) while at the same time committing to “everything that improves the best we know today” (Humility).

Ever since October ’87 this sustained focus on continuous improvement has resulted in an extraordinary “out of the box” approach to Leadership Development.

The Leader Academy Philosophy.

Fundamentals

From our past experiences we know that to achieve lasting results one should wisely only invest in developing individual leadership competencies when at the same time being willing and committed to develop the context in which this individual is supposed to lead.

If you are expected to :

  • change the business culture overnight
  • add transformation to information
  • impact performance and engagement levels
  • develop and guide Managers to become Leaders
  • get the team moving
  • create sustainable change
  • get serious about organisational development

we encourage you to take a deep dive in the Leader Academy Fundamentals for an intense collaborative learning experience together with the people you depend on for getting to your results or to join with a team of ‘interdependent’ players who are sharing – or supposed to share – the same goal and/or the same strategic aspiration and together lay a solid foundation to build on.
2 Days [8 × 90′ Modules]

Fundamentals

This virtual learning process will help you identify the rules and mindsets that stand in opposition to or support your personal process of change. You leave with key commitments and a clear view on how to push through old barriers of thinking and on how to redefine your paradigms to align them with your current and future objectives to create a sustainable way forward.

Module 1

The Skills and Engagement Challenge (2 x 90’)

  • Setting the Scene
  • Taking Ownership of the Change Process

In addition to the Philosophy and Values of the Leader Academy we will introduce you to our Real Time Co-Development Concept and orient the learning process. We will look for answers to a few of the most important key questions a.o.: “How can I influence and direct the levels of engagement of the Relevant Others I depend on for getting to my/our results?” and “What is the importance of having and/or creating options?

We will also (re)frame your current issues and context in a new overall “Architecture – Commitment” – Model. We introduce you to the fundamental difference between Management and Leadership and to what is needed to make an MBA generate the expected Return on Investment.

Module 2

The Power of Human Operating Systems (2 x 90’)

  • Diversity as a source of Chaos
  • Scanning the Context and charting our Polarities

Now we discover the impact of Human Operating Systems on both our private and professional daily reality. We also start getting a feel for what it takes as a leader to change, i.e. redefining our paradigms to align them with current and future objectives and define what we can ‘do differently’. We also become aware of the importance of assuming our individual responsibility to start pushing through old barriers of thinking….

After identifying the difference between “problems to solve” and “polarities to manage”, we take a closer look at our own context and define and chart the polarities we have to start managing well to turn them into a competitive advantage.

Module 3

The Power of Human Operating Systems (2 x 90’)

  • Diversity as a Source of rich Creative Potential
  • The Dynamics of Co-Creative InterChange

Essential to managing diversity is the skill to integrate, rather than avoid differences in perspectives. We develop a greater awareness of the context we live in and realize that our success as individuals is largely defined by this environment. Only if we can get people to collaborate, to create ‘Win-With’ outcomes we will prosper as a system.

The process of Co-Creative InterChange is the basis for individual creativity and productivity, and for high intra- and inter-team performance and intercultural understanding. The more an individual, team, organisation and culture masters the skills, methodologies and conditions for Co-Creative InterChange, the more it can integrate information, knowledge, intelligent learning and action into wisdom.

Module 4

Meeting of Minds in Real Time (2 x 90’)

  • Achieving “Win/With” Synergy among diverse Perspectives
  • Adopting new Operating Paradigms

Engaging with diversity requires all parties to be clear and explicit about the assumptions, data and reasoning used in their thinking, inviting challenge to one’s own perspective and surfacing new and additional information. Now we discover the dynamics, vital skills and conditions required for Co-Creative InterChange to operate at the intra- and inter-personal levels resulting in trustful Stakeholder Relationships.

The learning objective of this session is to improve collaboration skills by introducing you to powerful techniques for effective communication. Productively engaging with differences and adopting new operating paradigms is the desired outcome of this session. The art of the craft comes with a different way of thinking – a transformed mindset. The session will provide an introduction to the skills of thinking with the end goal in mind in addition to using these skills to improve communications and relationships.

Time Commitment:

  • Total time commitment of 12 Hours (2 days) consisting of 4 Blocks of 2 x 90’
  • No need for additional home work other than applying directly what you have learned
  • Webcam and microphone required
